Kerala Regulator revises rates for power from renewable sources

According to reports, the Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KSERC) has announced the rates at which independent producers of electricity from renewable sources could sell electricity to Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) and other distribution licensees in the State.

The rates are Rs.4.88 per unit in the case of small hydroelectric projects with installed capacity of less than 5 MW and Rs.4.16 per unit in the case of those with installed capacity of between 5 and 25 MW.

Power from wind farms will cost Rs.4.77 per unit for the KSEB/distribution licensees. These rates were applicable for projects starting power generation after January 1, 2013, the commission said in a press release on Thursday.
