According to reports, with the intention of sensitising bankers in the district on financing various solar energy schemes, Canara Bank – the lead bank of the district here organised a one-day workshop for them. The workshop titled ‘Financing Solar Energy Products and Services’ was attended by 30 branch managers of various banks in the district.
The objectives of the workshop were to sensitise the bank managers on improving the solar energy in the district by financing them. During the workshop, the managers were taught about various subsidies of the state and Centre for solar products and services and the lending formalities for such schemes. As part of the workshop, the service providers of solar energy products conducted a demonstration for the managers.
K N Balasubramanian, lead district manager said the workshop was intended to educate the managers on lending formalities on solar energy products and sensitise them to promote the alternate and green energy. Considering the present day power crisis the need arises to promote alternate energy sources to augment energy needs, he said.
“The workshop was successful, as many of the banks expressed their willingness to set up solar units in their branches. They will be setting up solar panels wherever the branches are operated in their own buildings. We will be installing solar panels in our lead bank campus shortly and the Family Planning Association of India building has also expressed interest on the proposal,” he said.
