UPNEDA to give Rs 15000 to beneficiaries for solar lighting

According to reports, people who are not yet on the list of BPL survey 2002, and thus not covered under Indira Awas Yojana would get Rs 1.2 lakh for construction of a house. The government has decided to light up these houses through solar lights, and beneficiaries would be given Rs 15,000 for solar lighting. Non-Conventional Energy Development Agency (NEDA) has been roped in for the purpose.

NEDA, besides providing 5-year warranty, would also set up a call centre to solve the grievances of the people in maintaining and operating the solar lights.
