Tata Power installs wind mill for fishermen at Mundra

According to reports, Tata Power, through its subsidiary Coastal Gujarat Project Ltd (CGPL), on Monday said it has installed a low-cost wind mill for the fishermen community at Modhva village near Mundra in Gujarat where CGPL has set up India’s first, 4,000 megawatt ultra mega power project (UMPP).

Tata Power undertook this initiative under ‘Project Sagarbandhu’, aiming to mitigate the water issues and reduce drudgery amongst women in Modhva village, the company said.

After the construction of wells, the company in consultation with the fishermen’s body decided to install wind mill for pumping water from the well. This is environment- friendly and is suitable for the coastal regions as it helps lift ground water easily, said KK Sharma, Executive Director and CEO, CGPL.
