Renergy 2013 to find new initiatives and create awareness about renewable energy sources

According to reports, a sand sculpture highlighting the need to promote renewable energy sources was put up at the Marina beach on Tuesday. The Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency, which put up the sculpture created by artist Ranjan Ganguly, organized the event as a curtain-raiser to RENERGY 2013 that will be held at the Chennai Trade centre in Nandambakkam from May 9 to 11.

Inaugurating Tuesday’s event, state minister for electricity, prohibition and excise N R Vishwanathan said, “the unique sculpture has been organised as part of RENERGY 2013 which will focus on creating awareness and providing insights about renewable energy and their role as the key driver of growth.” Tamil Nadu had been a pioneer in generating wind energy and the government aimed to make it a shining example in generating solar energy, he said.

The three-day event at the Chennai Trade Centre will include expert sessions on solar power, wind, bio-energy, green buildings and energy efficiency.
